2023 NY & KY-Bred Yearlings

It's not easy to do, but with the right people involved and plenty of work upfront, Yearling opportunities can be very rewarding. Not only is it fun to be a part of the journey as they develop into racehorses. There’s a bit more risk, but a lot more upside – there’s no reason we can’t get lucky. Plenty of work is done upfront, and then we put our horses in the best hands.

Why Own A Yearling?

  • Long-Term Potential: Yearlings are young and have their racing careers ahead of them. Owners can participate in shaping their training and racing careers, potentially leading to long-term success and accomplishments on the track.

  • High Risk/High Reward: If a yearling develops into a successful racehorse, it can result in significant financial returns through race earnings, stud fees if the horse becomes a successful sire or broodmare, and potential sale to other owners or breeders. The LBBS model is built around modestly-priced yearlings with strong physical conformation. â€‹

  • Exciting Journey: The process of selecting, purchasing, and training a yearling can be an exciting and fulfilling journey for owners. Watching a young horse develop and progress in its training can provide a unique sense of connection and pride.

  • Educational Experience: Investing in yearlings can be an educational experience for owners, allowing them to learn about the complexities of horse racing, breeding, training, and overall horse management.

The 2023 Yearling Game Plan

  • LBB Stables will be adding at least TWO Yearlings to our roster for 2023, with a focus on obtaining a NYB at the Saratoga NYB Sale or Fasig-Tipton Timonium, and a KY-Bred at the Keeneland Sale in September. â€‹

  • We'll be working with each of our trainers to select our yearlings and then develop individual plans for breaking them as babies and preparing them to race as two year-olds.

  • Our approach is to find horses with strong physical conformation and productive bloodlines through the work by our Pedigree Analyst, Jessica Tugwell.

  • Initial Partner packages cover expenses through all of 2024, including training, vet, shipping and insurance. Quarterly financial statements provided to keep all Partners updated on overall health of the Partnership.

  • Lastly - have a lot of fun! Yes, there's a lot of work that goes into it all, and plenty of patience and luck, but we have a great group of horsemen to guide us through it all. You'll get a chance to visit in the morning and have a blast on race days. This is truly an opportunity for the everyday race fan to get involved in ownership at very reasonable investment levels.
